¿Por qué no hice el podcast cuando terminó mi colaboración con Radio Clásica en 2022?

Muy sencillo: no podía emitir música sin pagar una cuota a la SGAE (unos 500€ la última vez que miré) por los derechos de emisión. En una organización, esa cuota la gestiona la propia institución. Tú, como freelance, pagas tu Seguridad Social. Ya sabéis cómo nos venden el cuento de “emprender” y de que la tecnología lo pone todo fácil. ¡SORPRESA!… ES MENTIRA! A cada paso debes pagar hasta por respirar. Arrancar cualquier proyecto, por humilde y casero que sea, puede costarte al principio varios miles de euros. Me desanimé por completo. Tanto que dejé de escuchar música. No podía soportarla sin pensar en todo el trabajo que había hecho durante años y que me había sido arrebatado.

Mientras tanto, el mundo enloquecía a pasos agigantados. Ucrania sufría la despiadada invasión rusa. Siria acumulaba años de guerra olvidada. Mahsa Amini fue asesinada por el criminal régimen iraní. Líbano se tambaleaba. De Sudán del Sur, ¿qué os voy a contar? Pero mi punto de ruptura definitiva fue el genocidio en Gaza. Me quedé paralizada de incredulidad y horror.

No entendía cómo podía producirse una conversión tan flagrante de víctimas en verdugos. La transformación obscena del régimen sionista en un nuevo régimen nazi. A esto se sumaban la completa irrelevancia de la Unión Europea y la, tantas veces demostrada, inutilidad de las Naciones Unidas. El círculo de desolación se cerraba.

Y aún faltaban más acontecimientos ominosos. La victoria de Milei en Argentina la tomamos a chanza. También la de Trump, al principio. Ahora tenemos la sonrisa congelada. La falsa tregua en Gaza ha sacado del foco mediático la barbarie impune del Estado israelí. Siguen matando, pero ya no les incomoda ni el grito de los activistas. Los obedientes y serviles medios de nuestras presuntas democracias occidentales ni siquiera informan. Putin se prepara para legalizar el saqueo y la ocupación de tierras ucranianas, mientras Trump juega a preparar la invasión de Venezuela.

Se normaliza la ocupación. Han vuelto los señores de la guerra. Hemos retrocedido a la Edad Media. Estamos a merced de los tecnomagnates y de su financiación de la ultraderecha.

Espero que esta mi visión apocalíptica os ayude a comprender por qué seguí sin escuchar música. Incluso anuncié en este mismo lugar que me daba de baja de todas las redes sociales y que cerraba definitivamente la web 400latidos.org.

Why didn’t I start the podcast when my collaboration with Radio Clásica ended in 2022 ?
The answer is simple: I couldn’t broadcast music without paying a fee to the SGAE (around €500 the last time I checked) for broadcast rights. Within an institution, that fee is handled by the organization itself. As a freelancer, you pay your own Social Security. You already know the fairy tale they sell us about “entrepreneurship” and how technology supposedly makes everything easy. SURPRISE… IT’S A LIE! At every step, you have to pay just to breathe. Starting any project, no matter how modest or homemade, can cost you several thousand euros at the outset. I was completely discouraged. So much so that I stopped listening to music. I couldn’t bear it without thinking about all the work I had done over the years and that had been taken from me.

Meanwhile, the world was going mad at a terrifying pace. Ukraine was suffering a ruthless Russian invasion. Syria was sinking deeper into years of forgotten war. Mahsa Amini was murdered by the criminal Iranian regime. Lebanon was teetering on the brink. And South Sudan — what can I even say? But my final breaking point was the genocide in Gaza. I was left frozen in disbelief and horror.

I couldn’t understand how such a blatant transformation of victims into executioners could take place. The obscene metamorphosis of the Zionist regime into a new Nazi regime. Added to this were the complete irrelevance of the European Union and the repeatedly demonstrated uselessness of the United Nations. The circle of desolation was complete.

And still, more ominous events followed. We laughed at Milei’s victory in Argentina. We did the same, at first, with Trump’s. Now our smiles are frozen. The so-called truce in Gaza has pushed the Israeli state’s unpunished barbarity out of the media spotlight. They keep killing, but even the voices of activists no longer disturb them. The obedient, servile media of our supposed Western “democracies” don’t even report it. Putin prepares to legalize the plundering and occupation of Ukrainian land, while Trump plays at preparing the invasion of Venezuela.

Occupation is being normalized. The warlords have returned. We have slipped back into the Middle Ages. We are at the mercy of the tech magnates and their funding of the far right.

I hope this apocalyptic vision of mine helps you understand why I went on without listening to music. I even announced, here in this very place, that I was deleting all my social networks and permanently shutting down the website 400latidos.org.
